ABOUT
The idea for WashWell came to me one evening while driving
to my tuition. I noticed young children on the roadside,
barefoot and without access to basic hygiene. It struck me
how something as simple as washing hands could protect
health, yet so many lacked that opportunity. I decided to do
something practical about it. I began collecting discarded
plastic bottles from Hero Honda showrooms, Bharat Mandapam
exhibitions, Banquets and local offices. Using these, I
repurposed and filled over 400 bottles with eco-friendly
liquid soap that I sourced from small manufacturers. Many I
made and labeled by hand, ensuring each was clean and safe
for reuse. I also designed a few automated soap dispensers
using leftover PVC pipes and installed them at the Nirbhed
Foundation, where children from disadvantaged backgrounds
study. Alongside distribution, I conducted workshops on
hygiene practices and COVID safety, making the project about
awareness as much as access.
